YOU WANT CREDIT FOR THAT?
“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” – JESUS (Luke 6:33-36)
Mob bosses love their own (until they are disloyal). Then they kill them. Politicians look out for the interests of their constituents (or at least the people who donate to their campaigns.) Credit card companies will lend you money – more than you can afford to pay back. But is that love?
We can do better.
It’s in our DNA. Our Father is generous and gracious to good and bad alike. We can be like him. It’s in us!
No, it’s not normal. Yes, you will be taken advantage of. Probably, people will think you are crazy. But that is what they thought of our older brother Jesus who spoke these words about our Dad. Look what they did to him.
Are you a follower of Jesus? A Christ-ian? A Christ one? Then do what he said and what he did.
Of course, the politicians play by their own rules. They profess faith in Jesus, but they are caught in the devil’s game of slander and accusation. It’s the way of the world. You don’t need to fall for it. Be like your Father and your big brother Jesus. They are kind to the ungrateful and the wicked alike. You should be too.
Give Credit Where Credit is NOT due.
So pray for them. All of them. Pray for the ones on your side and the ones you think are your enemies. Jesus isn’t fooled by partisanship. Everyone loves their own. Jesus followers love, bless and pray for the other side. Love the ones you think are your enemy. God loves them too. He is good to the good ones and the bad ones. He is merciful to you and me too.
