Last Sunday we kicked off a new series called Flourish. My goal is to help you get beyond survival mode and into the abundant life Jesus promised. Preparing the soil of your heart is the first step. We worked on that through confession, repentance and forgiving others last week. If you missed it, you can watch HERE.

Once the soil is prepared, make sure you plant the right seed.

The seed is the message about Jesus: the good news (gospel). If you get the message wrong, you won’t grow a healthy plant. No healthy plant, no good fruit. If you don’t flourish, it hurts God’s whole farm. If you get the gospel wrong, all the water, sun and fertilizer in the world won’t help you grow into the image of Jesus.

Your beliefs about yourself, God, others and the world are critical to your flourishing. But you have three enemies who don’t want you to flourish: the world, the flesh and the devil. They will sow lies that look like truth. This week I want to help you distinguish truth from lies. I will give you a framework for a gospel shaped vision of God, yourself, others and the world.

Then as you read the message in Scripture or hear the message from anyone, you will be able to discern the truth from lies, the good seed from the bad. You can make sure you are planting the right seed in your own heart and passing on the right message to those you care about. God wants them to flourish too.
