Last week, we discussed the truth that Christians are made for more than just “salvation” or being “saved.” We’re not diminishing the incredible gift of salvation made possible by the love of Jesus, in fact we celebrate every salvation story just like we celebrate the birth of a child!
Birth stories are so great because they all have elements of hope, love, struggle and overcoming. And even though you are central to your own birth story, your mother is primarily responsible for that part. But birth is just the start of your story. Believe us when we say, you were made for more great stories! As we mature in our lives, we have greater authorship over the stories we are telling.
There are certainly parallels here for Jesus-followers: even the phrase “born again” implies the beginning of the story! You were made for more than your salvation story, as great as it is. Most of us desire to turn all of our stuff—the good, the bad, the ugly—into great stories, and to be remembered well in history. Here’s the amazing thing we will explore this weekend: Jesus has given us the secret to co-authoring great Kingdom stories, and he tells us how we can be remembered well in His story.
See you Sunday!
