The Wind Blows, The Current Flows, But The Sailor Decides Where The Vessel Goes.
Sailing without wind doesn’t work. Without wind, we drift at the mercy of the current. When the wind blows, we have power available to go anywhere we choose if we learn set our sails in the right relationship to the wind.
Even when the wind is blowing, where it takes us depends on how we steer and how we trim our sails. Left to itself, the boat will always pull into the wind and come to a stop, dead in the water. Then it will drift again with the current. Hold too tightly on the other hand and you may capsize. Fighting the wind doesn’t work either.
Neither the wind, nor the current are in control. The sailor is in control of the boat. The fruit of the Spirit is self control.
Without the Spirit of God, we are dead in the water, drifting at the mercy of the current of our flesh. When the Wind of God blows, we can direct our lives under the power of the Holy Spirit.
But we are responsible to set our sails, steer our boat and pay attention to the Wind. It takes a little bit of knowledge and a lot of practice until it becomes second nature in the “Spirit led ministry” stage.
“The mind set on the flesh is death but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.” Romans 8:6
You can drift with the current or you can harness the wind. The choice is yours. – TR
