BUILD IT BEFORE YOU NEED IT

Build community before you need it. The investment you make in creating a supportive circle of friends will pay dividends when you need it most.

When I got COVID the day before Easter, I had friends I could call. I wouldn’t trust just anyone to fill in on such a big day. Trust is built over time. Jody had earned mine through his investment in our community. 

Friends who care dropped off grub hub cards, homemade corona-killer garlic potatoes, vitamins, supplements and hard to get prescriptions. I have felt the love. Thank you!

Of course, not everyone has the privilege of having so many friends with so much to give. But the investments we make in those around us pay off when we need them most.

Sure, if you keep a spreadsheet of all the people you’ve blessed over the years and all the ways your generosity has been reciprocated you will be disappointed and bitter. It doesn’t work like that. 

But like the house you build is there when it rains, the community you build is there when you need it most.
