KNOWING GOD TAKES ALL YOUR SENSES

“Now this is eternal life: that they know the only true God and Jesus Christ whom he has sent.” John 17:3

Knowing God is more than knowing about him. It demands encounter. We see Jesus revealed in Scripture,  hear his voice in our hearts,  encounter him in worship, access his power through prayer and follow him through discernment.

I want to show you how to use all your spiritual senses to encounter Jesus. In the next five weeks, this blog and our Sunday series will look at five ways of “knowing” God. There will be a companion devotional and prayer guide you can download as well starting next week.

See God’s face in Scripture.

Jesus said that all the Scriptures point to
him. He is the key to understanding the Bible.
In the first week, I will show you how to read the Bible as a unified story that leads to Jesus.

Hear God’s voice in your heart.

Jesus said his sheep hear his voice. How do you learn to hear his voice? In the second week, Monika Kirkland will teach you how she has learned to listen to Jesus with her heart.

Taste God’s goodness in worship.

Jesus knew our need for sensory experience when he gave us bread and wine to remember him. Understanding what we do when we worship will lead to a deeper encounter with God. Ryan Kirkland will equip you to bring your best to the God who deserves it.

Smell God’s guidance through discernment.

How do you get guidance from God? How can you make better decisions? Jody Giles will help you hone your spiritual sense of smell.

Touch God’s power through prayer.

As the woman in the crowd touched Jesus cloak and was healed, we need to learn to pray in bold faith. It helps to understand the access we have to God and the authority he gave us in the spiritual world. I will teach you to make the most of that authority to access God’s power in prayer.

This new series starts July 4th. Join us live in the chapel, on the patio, or in the lobby at 8:45 or 10:45 AM each Sunday. The 8:45 service will also be live-streamed on YouTube.
