NEW RHYTHMS FOR A NEW YEAR

Are you ready for the new year? I love the beginning of the year as an opportunity to get back into normal rhythms after the holidays.

I felt like was running around with my hair on fire in December and that’s why my motto for January is “stop, drop and roll.”

You can listen to my message from Sunday for the details, but I am going to stop working, drop out of sight and roll into some new practices for 2020. Don’t worry, it’s only for a month. I am going to be practicing in January what I am coming back to preach in February when I do a series on Practicing the Way of Jesus.

Meanwhile, we have some amazing people in our church that you need to hear from. Three of our overseers will be sharing some new rhythms God is teaching them. But this week, our own Worship Pastor Ryan Kirkland will be kicking off the series by sharing how he is learning new rhythms for trusting God when things don’t go according to plan.

Some good questions you might bring to God as you prepare to create your own new rhythms:

  • When will you STOP to rest and be with God?
  • What do you need to DROP that is no longer yours to carry?
  • What new habits do you need to ROLL into your life this year?

Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. (Matthew 11:29 MSG)
