ALL THE WORLD IS WAITING FOR YOU

For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.” Romans 8:19

As I was praying and meditating on this verse this morning, the Wonder Woman theme kept popping into my head (at least the first line, which is the only part I knew).  As a child of the 70’s, I have to admit she was my first crush! But it actually struck me how appropriate the song is to the verse:

“Wonder Woman! Wonder Woman! All the world is waiting for you and the power you possess . . .”

The whole creation is struggling.  Our world is broken and we need the children of God to fully live into their potential and work to restore all creation.  These stories call out the inborn desires of kids to be the hero.  They remind us of who we are, and who we are meant to become.

God created humans to be like him.  He entrusted the running of this world to us.  We let it be overrun by evil.  We need to take it back.

Unfortunately, we keep fighting each other instead of the evil.

Women vs. men.  Blacks vs. whites.  Democrats vs. Republicans. Us against them.  The names may change, but the evil keeps winning as long as we keep fighting each other instead of the evil.  It’s not people.

“Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Eph. 6:12

All the world is waiting for the children of God to be revealed.  Who are those children of God?

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Matt. 5:9
For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. Rom. 8:14

What the world is groaning for right now is for the children God has redeemed, who are led by His Spirit instead of their minds, urges and emotions, to stop reacting in fear and fighting each other so we can work together for the sake of the world.
