Where is the best place to invest now?
Where should you invest your money now?  Gold? Stocks? Real Estate? None of these are 100% secure.  You weigh the potential upside against the risks and you choose.  You have to put your money somewhere.  Even hiding it under a rock holds no guarantees.
Jesus said something about this in his famous Sermon on the Mount.
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.  Matthew 6:19-21
It’s not evil to store up treasure on earth.  It’s just not a smart investment.  Anything can happen.  If it does, you lose your stuff.  If it doesn’t, you still worry about it happening and you lose your joy.  The only way to secure your investments and your joy is to put them in the safest place.  Invest in Kingdom securities.
Where you put your money is what you will begin to care about.  No one watches gold prices like those who invest in it.  No one cares about the stock market like those who have their retirement tied up in it.  You don’t care if there are termites at 3 Oak Lane until you buy the house.  Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  It is a simple truth about human beings.  Our heart goes with our money.
So Investing your money in the kingdom of God does three things.
- Puts your money into a secure investment so you don’t have to worry about it losing value.
- Gets your heart directed at what God cares about and so increases your intimacy with him.
- Moves you into the flow of God’s blessings because he loves to bless generous people.
Consequently, Investing in the Kingdom of God is the only eternally safe investment.  “There will be no end to the increase of his government and of peace.” (Isaiah 9:7)  Can you get that kind of guaranteed equity anywhere else?  If you put your money in stocks, they may go up or they may go down.  Nothing lasts forever but the kingdom.
